LOCAL NEWS: NDOKWA NATION PROTEST ELECTRICITY BLACKOUTS IN DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT HOUSE.

On Wednesday April 22, 2026 hundreds of Ndokwas made up of youths, women, community chiefs and even traditional masquerades marched to the entrance of the Delta state government house in Asaba protesting for what they described as two decades of no electricity across Ndokwa communities.

The peaceful protesters carried old lanterns and lamps as symbols of their sufferings. Placards such as “20 Years of Darkness,” “We Are Suffering,” “Over 150 Ndokwa Communities in Darkness for Over 20 Years,” and “Oil Everywhere, Light Nowhere.” were also carried by the protesters.

“This is not just an inconvenience; it is a wound on the development and dignity of our communities” Nkem Stanley Adoh, Ndokwa President General who led the protesters said.

He also said that the government had abandoned Ndokwa despite being an oil rich area which have produced a lot of energy resources.

According to him Ndokwa families have not had access to basic necessities. Students have been forced to study under candle lights and small businesses are crumbling because of cost of generators. Adoh also added that hospitals in Ndokwa are also suffering as electronic dependent equipment can fail thereby putting lives at risk.
