Manchester United set to open talks with top midfielder

Manchester United Football Club have reached out to Brighton & Hove Albion, via intermediaries, to explore the conditions of a deal for midfielder Carlos Baleba.

The Cameroonian international has three years left on his Brighton contract, he has been tagged as one of the most sought-after defensive midfielder in the Premier League. However, it is not yet clear if Brighton are open to selling Carlos Baleba this summer transfer window.

Manchester United will have to break the bank to sign the 21-year-old due to the three years he has left on his contract. There are also reports that Brighton made it clear that they will keep hold of the Cameroon international.

Baleba joined Brighton from Lille in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth just under £26million ($34.5m) with add-ons. During his time in the Premier League, the Cameroon international has established himself as one of the division’s most promising young midfielders.

He made 40 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and providing two assists last season. Baleba has made seven appearances for Cameroon.
