Afrobeats Artist, Davido in a recent Livestream with Davrel has revealed he’s doubtful about jumping into politics, citing concerns about how celebrities have fared in the political space. He mentioned that his legacy in the entertainment industry and the realities of politics have made him cautious about taking the leap.
The musician said he’s been watching how other celebrities have transitioned into politics, and it’s not looking too promising. He’s worried about ruining his hard-earned reputation and fan base.
“Before, I wanted to go into politics but honestly, now, I see it two ways.
All my years of goodwill, my name and my career, all the hard work and the fan base we have built, it is tricky because the way people look at things; the superstars that have gone into politics, the transition hasn’t really been successful, I feel like if you are a politician, you are a politician. It is like it is their business,” he said.
Davido do have a prominent politician in his family with his uncle Ademola Adeleke currently serving as the Executive Governor of Osun state. Davido was vocal in supporting his uncle during his election days in 2022 and a lot of his fans had assumed he will go into politics later after his successful music career.
