SPORTS: EFL CUP: MAN CITY WINS NEWCASTLE TO SET UP FINAL CLASH WITH ARSENAL.

Manchester City has secured a spot in the EFL Cup final, defeating current holders Newcastle United 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium, with a 5-1 aggregate win. The Cityzens came into the game with an already 2-goal advantage having won the first leg at Saint James Park courtesy of Antoine Semenyo and Rayan Cherki goals. Omar Marmoush scored a brace, scoring in the 7th and 29th minute of the game and Tijjani Reijnders added a third goal three minutes later in the 32nd minute making City end the first half 3-0 up. Anthony Elanga then scored a consolation goal for Newcastle on the resumption the Swedish man firing home in the 62nd minute.

The final will be against Arsenal on March 22 at Wembley, marking a clash between Pep Guardiola and his former assistant, Mikel Arteta. This is City’s 10th EFL Cup final, and they’re aiming to win their fifth title under Guardiola having won it four consecutive times from the 2017/18 to 2020/21 seasons.

Arsenal will also be seeking to win the cup for the first time since 1992.
The final will be a replay of 2018 EFL cup final which Manchester City won 3-0 with goals from Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and David Silva.
