ENTERTAINMENT: “WHAT NIGERIAN ARTISTES MUST DO TO WIN GRAMMY” – DJ BIG N.

Mavin Records disk jockey, DJ Big N has said he believes Nigerian artists can improve their chances of winning Grammys by participating in American music events and getting involved in the Grammy decision-making process. He cites multiple Grammy-winning Beninese singer, Angelique Kidjo as an example, saying she’s successful because of her strong presence in global music circles.

DJ Big N advises Nigerian artists to join the Recording Academy’s voting body, attend seminars, and engage with the music community year-round to increase their chances of winning.

“It stings deeply that so many talented Nigerians were nominated but didn’t bring the Grammy home this time. But here’s the truth, Legends like @angeliquekidjo and @YoussouNdourSN have shown us the power of being involved beyond just the award night.

She is at those seminars, those events, making her presence felt. If we want to change the game, we’ve got to do the same. Let’s step up, join the @RecordingAcad voting body and be part of the process all year long. That’s how we truly make our mark. Better luck next year, but let’s also be there to shape it.” DJ Big N wrote on X.

Nigerian Artistes Davido, Omah Lay, Wizkid, Ayra Starr, and Burna Boy all recently lost out ‘Best African Performance’ award at the 68th Grammy Awards on Sunday February 1, to South Africa’s Tyla.
