President Bola Tinubu briefly stumbled during a ceremonial reception in Türkiye, but quickly regained his balance and continued with the program. The incident happened as he joined the guard of honour, and he was immediately assisted by security personnel. The Presidency attributed the stumble to Tinubu stepping on a metal object, saying it’s “not a big deal” and that he’s “hale and hearty”.
The visit aims to strengthen Nigeria-Türkiye relations, with discussions on trade, security, investment, and regional cooperation. Tinubu also held bilateral talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and witnessed the signing of memoranda of understanding on energy, infrastructure, and industrial development.
