Senegalese football team celebrated their Africa Cup of Nations triumph in Dakar, Senegal capital city. They paraded through the streets in an open-top bus, with fans dancing and cheering alongside. The team, led by captain Kalidou Koulibaly and star player Sadio Mane, was greeted as heroes after defeating Morocco 1-0 in the final.

Senegal won their second continental title on Sunday January 18 night after a very chaotic final marred by protests from the players who had refused to play after the referee awarded Morocco a penalty late in added time. The Senegalese players had protested with their coach Pape Thiaw had ordered his players to leave the field and held to the dressing room before their skipper of the day Sadio Mane persuaded them to come and continue. Brahim Diaz who was the tournament top scorer with 5 goals had the chance to win it for Morocco their first title in 50 years but Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy would go on to save his panenka penalty. Pape Gueye then scored in extra time to secure Senegal the title.
