SPORTS: LA LIGA: REAL MADRID APPOINTS ALVARO ARBELOA AS NEW HEAD COACH.

Alvaro Arbeloa has been appointed as the new head coach of Real Madrid, replacing Xabi Alonso who left the club by mutual consent. “Real Madrid CF announces that Álvaro Arbeloa is the new first team coach,” The club confirmed in statement.


Arbeloa, is a former Real Madrid defender, who amassed 237 appearances in all competitions across two spells winning one La liga and two UEFA Champions League titles. He was previously coaching the reserve team, Castilla, and has been part of the club’s youth academy since 2020.

He was also part of Spain’s 2010 World Cup and 2008 and 2012 European Championships winning team earning 56 caps.

Real Madrid are now looking forward to a brighter future after their 3 – 2 Super Copa de Espana loss to Arch Rivals Barcelona on Sunday January 11, their third straight final loss to the Calatans. They currently trail Hansi Flick’s side by 4 points in the La Liga table.
