NEWS: NLC STAGE PROTEST IN LAGOS, ABUJA, ENUGU OVER INSECURITIES IN THE COUNTRY.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has staged protests in Lagos, Abuja, and Enugu today, December 17, 2025, over the rising insecurity in the country.

The protests are part of a nationwide action aimed at drawing attention to the growing insecurity and pressing the government to take immediate and concrete measures to address the crisis.

In Lagos, protesters gathered at the Ikeja underpass, carrying placards that reads: “Federal Government, No More Excuses and Rhetoric, End Insecurity Now”.

Some of the Protesters can be seen chanting “We have had enough of empty promises! Our members and Nigerians are tired of living in fear.

The government must act now” demanding an end to insecurity. Similar protests were held in Abuja and Enugu, with participants calling for better protection for workers and the safety of Nigerians.

The NLC had earlier announced plans to hold the protest, citing the alarming surge in attacks on schools and the need for the government to secure all schools, particularly those in remote and vulnerable areas. The union’s president, Joe Ajaero, had warned that the protest would proceed despite a meeting with President Bola Tinubu, saying the discussions did not yield sufficient assurances to halt the planned action.
