NEWS: US IMPOSED PARTIAL TRAVEL BAN ON NIGERIA DUE TO COUNTRY INSECURITIES.

The United States on Tuesday December 16, 2025, has imposed a partial travel ban on Nigerians, suspending entry for several visa categories, including business (B-1), tourism (B-2), academic studies (F), vocational studies (M), and exchange programs (J).

This decision, announced by the White House, aims to address security concerns and difficulties in vetting Nigerian nationals, citing the presence of radical Islamist groups like Boko Haram and high visa overstay rates.

Affected Visa Categories includes B-1 (Business trips), B-2 (Tourism purposes), B-1/B-2 (Combined business and tourism), F( Academic studies), M (Vocational or non-academic studies),J (Exchange programs and cultural visits).
However the categories exempted from the travel ban are Lawful permanent residents (green card holders), Diplomatic visa, Athletes attending major international events, Certain special immigrant visa holders, and persecuted ethnic or religious minorities.

The restrictions will take effect on January 1, 2026, and apply to Nigerians outside the US without valid visas. Existing visas remain valid, and exemptions may be granted on a case-by-case basis.
