Nigerian filmmaker and activist, Stanley Ajem a AKA Stanley Ontop has been released from police detention in Delta State. He was arrested on Tuesday following a defamation petition filed by actress Queeneth Hilbert. Ontop’s release came after spending a night in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Asaba.
In a video shared on his Instagram page, Ontop celebrated his release, saying, “We are out, we’re out, we’re out! The struggle continues, no leave no transfer. Aluta continua. Thanks to my team and family. The love was massive meenh”.
Ontop’s arrest had sparked widespread reactions online, with colleagues, fans, and celebrities demanding his immediate release. The filmmaker had been vocal about his views on various issues, including the recent Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) presidential election, which he claimed was “hijacked”.
