ENTERTAINMENT: FANS VOICE OUT ON SOCIAL MEDIA OVER ₦300k LAGOS CONCERT PRICE.

Popular Afrobeats Star Asake’s Lagos concert is facing major backlash over the ₦300,000 ticket price, with fans expressing outrage and disappointment on social media. Many feel the price is exorbitant and unfair, especially considering the economic challenges in Nigeria.

Some are comparing it to international shows, pointing out that fans abroad can get seats for under $100, while Nigerians are paying $200 just to stand.

“So Nigerians are paying $200 just to stand and watch Asake, while people abroad get seats for under $100? Make it make sense. How do you overcharge the people who actually built the fanbase? It’s giving ‘exploit your own’ and everyone’s just supposed to smile about it?” a Social media user under the name Yemmmmie tweeted.

Another one under the name Ayzo also voiced out his dissent “I really wanted to go for Asake’s show but 300k is too ridiculous.”

The controversy has sparked a wider debate about artist accessibility and the economic realities facing Nigerian entertainment consumers. Fans are questioning why they’re expected to pay such a premium for entertainment when there are more pressing issues in the country.

Asake’s team hasn’t officially responded to the backlash, but industry insiders suggest that the high production costs, artist fees, and security measures are contributing factors to the ticket price. Some fans are threatening to boycott the concert, while others are calling for more affordable options.
