Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo got a red card as Chelsea drew 1-1 with Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. Caicedo’s studs-up challenge on Mikel Merino earned him a straight red, leaving Chelsea with 10 men. Despite being down, Trevoh Chalobah put Chelsea ahead with a header, immediately after second half resumed the defender heading home from Reece James cross.
Spaniard Mikel Merino will go on to equalized for Arsenal later on in the 59th minute also heading home from Bukayo Saka’s cross. After the game, Arsenal remained first on the Premier league table with 30 points from 13 games but Chelsea slipped to third with a point below Manchester City who are now 5 points adrift Mikel Arteta’s men. The Gunners will be seeking to win their first EPL since 2004 having ended up as runners up in the 2022/23, 2/23/24 and 2024/25 seasons.

The match was intense, with seven yellow cards and one red. Enzo Maresca, Chelsea’s coach, acknowledged Caicedo’s mistake but questioned the consistency of refereeing decisions, citing a similar incident involving Rodrigo Bentancur and Reece James.
Caicedo will miss Chelsea’s next three matches, including games against Leeds, Bournemouth, and Everton.
