NEWS: OBASANJO FORGIVES FAYOSE AFTER 19-YEAR POLITICAL RIFT.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has publicly forgiven former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, ending their 19-year political rift. The reconciliation occurred at Fayose’s 65th birthday celebration on Saturday November 15, in Lagos, where Obasanjo publicly absolved Fayose of past “sins”. Obasanjo stated, “You have asked for forgiveness, and as far as I’m concerned, you are forgiven. But the right lessons must be learnt”.

The feud between Obasanjo and Fayose dates back to 2006, when Fayose was impeached as Ekiti State governor, a process Obasanjo allegedly backed.

Fayose reportedly sent former Aviation Minister Osita Chidoka to “sound out” Obasanjo before the event, and later asked for forgiveness through emissaries.

Obasanjo acknowledged Fayose’s achievements, saying, “You are not the best of my political children, but you have made achievements that must not be ignored”.
