SPORTS: WORLD CUP PLAYOFFS: SUPER EAGLES THRASH GABON 4 – 1, ADVANCE TO FINAL.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have advanced to the final of the African World Cup playoffs with a thrilling 4-1 win over Gabon in Rabat, Morocco. Victor Osimhen scored a brace in extra time, while Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke also found the back of the net for Nigeria.

After a goalless first half which saw the Super Eagles control the game but waste chances to take the lead, Gabon thought they would be awarded a penalty for what seems to be a push in the penalty area of the Nigerians but after a VAR review they were not awarded.

Nigeria took the lead in the 78th minute through Adams’ clever finish rounding the Gabon goalkeeper and slotting the ball into the back of the net after a defender’s short pass fell to him.

Victor Osimhen Galatasaray teammate Mario Lemina then scored an equalizer for Gabon in the 89th minute, sending the match into extra time and giving the Gabonese people hopes of qualifying.
Osimhen scored two goals in extra time, both coming in the 102nd and 110th minute of extra time securing Nigeria’s 4-1 victory.

The Super Eagles will now face the winner of the DR Congo vs Cameroon clash on Sunday, November 16, for a spot in the intercontinental playoff.
