NEWS: “CHURCH CONTROVERSY: PASTOR’S SERMON COMMENT SPARKS OUTRAGE, MAN ABADONS SERVICE”

A shocking revelation has emerged online after a man, Chidiebere, shared his reason for stopping attending church services led by Pastor Ibiyeomie in Port Harcourt. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Chidiebere revealed that the pastor’s comment during a sermon left him feeling judged and disillusioned, prompting him to walk out of the church and vow never to return.

According to Chidiebere, the pastor had said, “While on evangelism, he saw poor people gathered in the name of protest,” referring to a protest that took place the day before, where people gathered to demand better living conditions. Chidiebere, who had participated in the protest, felt that the pastor’s words were a direct attack on his values and his right to engage in civic activism.

“I stood up, left, and never returned. I am not a mad man,” Chidiebere wrote, expressing his frustration and disappointment. He explained that he could not reconcile the pastor’s judgment with his faith and decided to prioritize standing by his convictions and seeking positive change over attending a service that made him feel judged and unwelcome.

Chidiebere’s story has sparked a wave of reactions online, with many praising him for his courage and commitment to his values. The incident highlights the tension between faith and social activism, and raises questions about the role of religious leaders in addressing social issues.
