NEWS: EFCC ANNOUNCES EX-MINISTER TIMIPRE SYLVIA WANTED

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Governor of Bayelsa State and former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, wanted.

The anti-graft agency alleges that Sylva is involved in a conspiracy and dishonest conversion of $14,859,257, which was injected by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) into Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited for the construction of a refinery.

According to the EFCC, the alleged offense is a serious breach of trust and a threat to the nation’s economy. The commission has obtained a warrant from the Federal High Court Lagos, issued on November 6, 2025, authorizing the arrest of Sylva.

The EFCC’s notice, which includes Sylva’s photograph, states that he is wanted and urges the public to provide any information that may lead to his arrest. The notice provides several contact options, including phone numbers and email addresses, for individuals to report any relevant information.

The EFCC has listed several offices across the country where people can provide information, including Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt, and Abuja.

Sylva, 61, is from Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. The EFCC has not provided further details about the allegations, but has assured the public that it will continue to work tirelessly to bring perpetrators of financial crimes to justice.
