Urhobo College, Uvwie local government, Warri, has emerged victorious in the 2025 Zenith Bank/Delta State Principal’s Cup, defeating Ogbe-Ijoh Grammar School 2-1 in a thrilling final match at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba. The match was played on Thursday November 6 with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s deputy in attendance representing the distinguished Governor.
The win earned Urhobo college a brand new 18-seater bus and a ₦2 million cash prize, while runners-up Ogbe-Ijoh Grammar received ₦1.5 million. Justice, Peace & Success Academy, Aniocha South local government who finished third and Otokutu Grammar School, Ughelli South local government, who finished fourth both received ₦500,000 cash prizes.
Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, praised the winners, stating that the competition aligns with his administration’s MORE Agenda, focusing on youth development and creating opportunities for young Deltans. The government plans to introduce a special program to identify and nurture football talents discovered through the Principal’s Cup, preparing them for state, national, and international opportunities.
The victory marks a significant achievement for Urhobo College, showcasing their talent, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. The college’s coach and team captain expressed their joy, vowing to return stronger next year.
