The Delta State Police Command has made significant breakthroughs in their efforts to combat crime, including the arrest of suspected drug dealers and the rescue of a kidnap victim. In a recent operation, the police crack squad arrested two suspected drug dealers and rescued a kidnap victim in separate operations.
Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe confirmed that the Police on Sunday October 12 raided a hideout in Effurun GRA in the early hours of the day. They arrested two suspects by the names Igwe Samson (33) and Abalum Sunday (39). 450 bottles of CSP Codeine, 188 bottles of Bargadine, 208 sachets of Tramadol 100mg, 100 sachets of Tramadol 500mg, 300 sachets of Swinol, 50 sachets of Rophynol, and a bag of weeds suspected to be cannabis were recovered.
Investigations revealed that the arrested duo have been doing illicit drug business for 2 years now getting supplies from Onitcha in Anambra and smuggling them into the state at night to avoid securities.
In another operation, the Ovian-Aladja police foil a kidnapping operation rescuing a woman who had been abducted from her home.
The DPO received a distress call by 2 AM and immediately led his team to the pursuit of the kidnappers. The kidnappers were tracked down to a forest in the Iyara community making them abandon the victim and fleeing. The woman has since been reunited with her family.
