The Delta State House of Assembly has launched an investigation into the recent recruitment exercise conducted by Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, due to allegations of violating the governor’s directive. The petitioners claim the university employed over 400 persons, exceeding the approved number of 100 staff members, which raises concerns about governance and ethics.
The university’s Governing Council and Management are accused of disregarding the governor’s directive on recruitment. The petitioners question the university’s adherence to principles of fiscal discipline and accountability in state-owned institutions.
The Assembly has formed an ad hoc committee to probe the matter and present findings within three weeks.
The investigation aims to address the alleged irregularities and ensure accountability in the recruitment process.
