SPORTS: NIGERIA U20 CRASH OUT OF U20 WORLD CUP AFTER LOSING 4 – 0 TO ARGENTINA IN ROUND OF 16.

The Nigeria U20 team, also known as the Flying Eagles, crashed out of the FIFA U-20 World Cup after a 4-0 loss to Argentina in the Round of 16. The match, held in Santiago, Chile, saw Argentina dominate from start to finish, with goals from Alejo Sarco, Maher Carrizo (2), and Mateo Silvetti.

Despite their efforts, the Flying Eagles couldn’t find the back of the net, and Argentina’s ruthless precision proved too much for them.
Argentina controlled the game from the beginning, dictating the pace and keeping Nigeria pinned in their own half. Alejo Sarco opened the scoring very early in the second minute tapping in Dylan Gorosito’s cross. Maher Carizo then scored a superb free kick twenty one minutes later to make it 2 – 0.

First half ended that way. Things went from bad to worse for the Flying Eagles as Carrizo added another goal after resumption in the 53rd minute and Mateo Silveti rounded up the score in the 66th minute with a low shot.
The Flying Eagles struggled to find their rhythm, and their attempts to break through Argentina’s defense were repeatedly thwarted by poor finishing and solid defending.
Argentina will now face Mexico in the quarterfinals, looking to continue their impressive run in the tournament. They have won all their fixtures so far in the tournament emerging as strong favourites for the trophy.
