Spanish and Inter Miami CF defender Jordi Alba has announced his decision to retire from professional football at the end of the current MLS season. This will mark the final chapter of his outstanding career, with the upcoming MLS Playoffs being his last hurrah.
Alba expressed his gratitude to the club and fans, stating, “I feel it’s the right moment to begin a new personal chapter and fully enjoy time with my family after so many demanding years in professional football.”
Alba joined Inter Miami in 2023 and has been instrumental in the team’s success, contributing 14 goals and 38 assists Helping them to Leagues cup triumph in 2023 and Supporters shield in 2024.
The left back previously announced his retirement from international football, citing the unique challenges of playing in the MLS. Despite rumors, Alba has signed a new contract with Inter Miami CF, keeping him at the club through 2027.
However, he clarified that his retirement plans are driven by his age, saying, “Because of my age, yes… my dream is to finish here.”

Jordi began his football career at Valencia before moving to Barcelona in 2012. There he spent 11 seasons winning a host of trophies which includes 6 La Liga titles, 5 Copa del Reys and the 2014/15 UEFA champions league.
