SPORT: COURT SEIZES MARADONA’S LAWYER, SISTERS ASSETS.

An Argentine court has seized assets worth $1.34 million from Diego Maradona’s former lawyer, Matías Morla, and his sisters, Rita and Claudia Maradona, over alleged fraud in managing the late football legend’s brand. The court claims Morla’s brand management company was a front, and Maradona retained control of his assets until his death in 2020.

Morla and his assistants are accused of suspected fraudulent handling of Maradona’s assets, while his sisters and a notary are prosecuted as accomplices.

The court ordered the seizure of $1.34 million (approximately 2 billion pesos) from all six accused.
Maradona’s children claim his brand and subsidiaries should have been transferred to them after his death, as they believe their father didn’t intend to gift his brand to Morla’s company.

The football star passed away in November 2020 while recovering from brain surgery, with a separate case investigating potential medical negligence still pending.
Maradona’s daughters, Dalma and Giannina, first filed complaints against Morla and others in 2021, with his three other children joining the legal fight later.
