A fire broke out at Emab Plaza, a four-storey commercial building located behind Mandilas on Lagos Island, on Tuesday night, September 16, 2025. The fire was reported around 9:00 p.m. and triggered a swift response from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, with fire crews from Ebute Elefun and Oniru stations deployed to the scene.
The flames originated from the fourth floor and spread to adjoining sections of the building, destroying goods worth millions of naira. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
The exact cause of the fire is still unknown and investigations are expected to commence once the situation is under control.
“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service swiftly responded to a fire outbreak at a four-storey building, with the blaze reported from the fourth floor of Emab Plaza, located behind Mandilas, Taiwo Street, Lagos Island.The incident was reported at 19:23 hours, prompting immediate dispatch of fire crews from the Ebute Elefun Oniru Fire Stations. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined” Deputy Controller – General of The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service Olajide Ogabi confirmed.
This incident occurred just hours after another fire outbreak at Afriland Tower, a six-storey building on Broad Street, Lagos Island, where nine victims were rescued.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service acted quickly to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to adjacent buildings in the densely populated commercial area.
