Akon’s wife has filed for divorce from the popular singer-songwriter just days before their 29th wedding anniversary on Sept. 15, per court documents obtained by TMZ on Friday.
Tomeka Thiam, who says she tied the knot with the “Smack That” rapper, 52, in 1996, cited irreconcilable differences in her filing, according to the outlet.
Thiam is requesting joint legal custody of the 17-year-old kid she says they share, as well as sole physical custody of the child, the docs reveal.
She is also seeking spousal support from the 52-year-old (whose legal name is Aliaune Badara Thiam) and has requested to block the court’s ability to award him any spousal support.
