SPORTS: FOOTBALL: NOTTINGHAM FOREST PART WAYS WITH NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO

Nottingham Forest has sacked Nuno Espírito Santo as their head coach, just three games into the 2025-26 Premier League season. The decision comes after a tumultuous period at the club, with growing tensions between Nuno and the club’s owner, Evangelos Marinakis.

In a statement released after midnight, Forest thanked Nuno “for his contribution during a very successful era at the City Ground” and said he would “always hold a special place” in their journey

Nuno’s relationship with Marinakis had deteriorated, with the two reportedly having disagreements over transfer dealings and recruitment strategy.

Nuno had publicly criticized the club’s transfer activity, claiming they had “wasted a good chance” during the summer window.

Nuno also had a major clash with Forest’s new global head of football, Edu Gaspar, who joined the club from Arsenal.

Nuno led the club to their best season of the 21st century, securing a Europa League spot and finishing seventh in the Premier League.

Despite the tensions, Nuno’s time at Forest will be remembered fondly, with the club thanking him for his contribution and acknowledging his pivotal role in their success.

Ange Postecoglou former Tottenham Hotspur boss is reportedly one of the leading candidates to replace the 51 year old Nuno.
The club currently sit 10th in the table after suffering a 3-0 home defeat by West Ham before September’s international break.
