Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is set to return to the Senate after completing her six-month suspension, which was handed down by the Senate on March 6, 2025.
The suspension was deemed “unlawful” and “excessive” by a Federal High Court in Abuja, with Justice Binta Nyako ruling that it denied Akpoti-Uduaghan’s constituents their constitutional right to representation.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended after accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment and for violating Senate Standing Rules.
The court ordered her immediate reinstatement, stating that the Senate’s disciplinary actions must be proportionate and not infringe on the democratic rights of constituents.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan represents Kogi central senatorial district.
