SCOTTISH CHAMPIONS CELTIC SIGN IHEANACHO ON A YEAR CONTRACT.

Celtic Football Club has signed Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho on a one-year deal with an option for a further year. The 28-year-old forward joins Celtic as a free agent after mutually terminating his contract with Sevilla FC on deadline day Iheanacho will work under manager Brendan Rodgers, who previously coached him at Leicester City.


Iheanacho previously played for Man city and Leicester city in English football winning the English football league and FA cup Respectively with both sides he then move across to La Liga’s Sevilla on a free transfer last summer but things didn’t work out for the Nigerian striker in Spain as he only managed 3 goals in 11 appearances he was then sent on a short term loan to EFL Championship’s Middlesbrough in January 2025 playing 15 games and netting once.

On the international scene Iheananacho has had 59 caps for Super Eagles scoring 15 goals he finished as runners up in 2023 CAF African cup of Nations.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers expressed his delight at reuniting with Iheanacho, praising his talent, athleticism, and work ethic. Rodgers believes Iheanacho will make a significant contribution to the team and resonate well with Celtic fans.
