HUMAN RIGHT ACTIVIST OJEI GRANTED BAIL.

A Delta State magistrate court in Asaba granted bail to human rights activist Victor Ojei, also known as WongBox, after his arraignment by the Delta State Police Command. Ojei faced a three-count charge bordering on:

• Threat to Life: under Section 355 of the Criminal Code
• Assault Occasioning Harm: under Section 86 of the Criminal Code
• Threatening Violence: under Section 249 of the Criminal Code

The court imposed stringent bail conditions, which Ojei met to secure his release. Civil Society Organisations, led by activists Harrison Gwamnishu and Harrison Itulua, supported Ojei and ensured his immediate release after meeting the bail conditions.

The case will continue in court as Ojei faces trial on the allegations.

Ojei has held positions such as Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Coalition of Civil Societies, Founder and Lead Activist of the Young Nigerian Rights Organization, and National President of the Rights and Anti-Corruption Forum of Nigeria.
