Nigerian Skit Maker, Actor, and Musician Broda Shaggi has finally broken his silence about why he disappeared for months.
In a YouTube video posted Wednesday night, October 21, 2026 the comedian actor recounted the terrifying moment he was hit by a stray bullet.
The incident occurred on March 9, 2026 while he and his crew were filming a comedy skit under the Sango-Ota bridge area of Ogun State.
Shaggi says he was on a routine brand activation assignment, and they had just finished and were leaving in traffic when:
“We were done shooting and got stuck in traffic. Suddenly, I heard a loud bang and everywhere went silent. I could see people talking, but I couldn’t hear anything. Then I touched my hip and saw blood. That was when I realised I had been hit by a stray bullet.”
He says he became totally unconscious before reaching the hospital and only remembers praying.
“A lot was happening at the same time. I was sweating. I was holding my leg, you know, I was seeing blood and all I wanted to hear was a doctor or a nurse telling me Samuel, you’ll be fine.
Broda Shaggi was first taken to Blooming Care Hospital in Alakuko, Lagos, then referred to Duchess Hospital in Ikeja for specialized treatment. He underwent surgeries in Nigeria, then traveled to Dubai after about 4 months for further treatment and physiotherapy. The injury, a gunshot wound to the thigh, forced him away from work for months and made him fear he would never dance, sing, or perform again – activities central to his brand.
Shaggi admitted the prolonged absence made him fear fans would forget him: “There were moments where I would see videos of my colleagues. I would laugh and sometimes I would just start to cry because I wasn’t sure if I would still be able to do all these things they doing again.”
He said he had maintained a non-stop work schedule since 2018, and this was the first time he was forced to rest.
The prolonged absence sparked concern among fans. In August he briefly addressed them via WhatsApp, saying he wasn’t yet ready to disclose everything. His new video is his first full public account, confirming earlier reports by PUNCH.
