NEWS: “GUNMEN KILLED 162 PEOPLE IN KWARA STATE” – RED CROSS.

Gunmen attacked Woro village in Woro, Kwara state, leaving at least 162 people dead, according to the Red Cross. The attack, which occurred on Tuesday February 3 evening, was blamed on “terrorist cells” by the Kwara state government.
Babaomo Ayodeji, Red Cross Secretary of Kwara state confirmed the report saying: “Reports said that the death toll now stands at 162, as the search for more bodies continues,”

The gunmen set shops and the traditional king’s palace on fire, and many residents escaped into nearby bushland with gunshot wounds.
“The Gunmen rounded up the residents, bound their hands behind their backs and shot them as I’m speaking to you now, I’m in the village along with military personnel, sorting dead bodies and combing the surrounding areas for more,” local politician Sa’idu Baba Ahmed also said.

The Nigerian military has intensified operations against jihadists and armed bandits in the area, and authorities have imposed curfews and temporarily shut down schools. The attack is one of the deadliest in Nigeria in recent months, highlighting the country’s ongoing security challenges.
