Mexican actor Gerardo Taracena, known for his roles in “Apocalypto” and “Narcos: Mexico”, has passed away at the age of 55. He died on January 31, 2026, due to a heart attack, according to reports from his friend Enrique Cueva. Taracena had hypertension, but it was under control with medication. He was a versatile actor who worked in film, television, and theater, and was known for his intense performances.
Gerardo Taracena was born on March 27, 1970 in Mexico City, Mexico. He studied Dramatic arts in the University Center of Theater of the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
He gained world wide fame in 2006 when he starred as “middle eye”, one of the ruthless Astec captors that chased main character “Jaguar Paw” in Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto.
