SPORTS: AFCON: ALGERIA STUN DR. CONGO LATE IN EXTRA TIME, COTE D’IVOIRE THRASH BURKINA FASO 3-0, TO ADVANCE TO THE QUARTERS. QUARTER FINALS DRAWS AND DATE.

Algeria broke the hearts of the DR Congo fans scoring a late goal in extra time to secure a 1-0 win and book their spot in the AFCON quarter-finals at the ongoing tournament in Morocco. Adil Boulbina’s 119th-minute strike sealed the victory, sending Algeria to face Nigeria in Marrakesh on Saturday.

Meanwhile, defending champions Cote D’Ivoire dominated Burkina Faso with a 3-0 win, thanks to goals from Amad Diallo, Yan Diomande, and Bazoumana Toure. They’ll now face Egypt in Agadir on Saturday.

The quarter-final lineup is set, with Mali taking on Senegal and Cameroon facing hosts Morocco on Friday, January 9. Algeria will be taking on Nigeria on Saturday January 10 in what will be the replay of the 2019 semi final where Riyad Mahrez late penalty sent the Super Eagles home. Cote D’Ivoire will then face Egypt in the other game.
