Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna is standing by friend and colleague Ini Edo after the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) slammed her new movie’s title. In a statement on his Instagram story, Ogbonna expressed disappointment with CAN, accusing them of raising concerns only after the film’s nationwide release and success .
The movie’s title was publicly promoted for months without CAN’s objection, and it secured official approval from the National Film and Video Censors Board. “TBH! I am deeply disappointed with CAN. You saw the promotions for this title for months and said nothing” , Ogbonna wrote.
Ogbonna questioned CAN’s timing, calling it unfair and inconsistent. “Now that the film is out, showing nationwide and doing well, suddenly there’s an issue with the title” . He added, “How Christian is it to stay silent all along, then speak only when progress has been made?”
The actor stressed his reaction aims for fairness and integrity, not conflict. “This isn’t about conflict – it’s about fairness, consistency, and integrity” .
