SPORTS: HOLDERS NEWCASTLE GET MANCHESTER CITY IN EFL CUP SEMI FINAL DRAW AS CHELSEA AWAITS WINNER OF ARSENAL-CRYSTAL PALACE CLASH

English Football League cup defending champions, Newcastle United will face Manchester City in the EFL Cup semi-finals, while Chelsea awaits the winner of Arsenal vs Crystal Palace. The first leg will be played at St James’ Park on January 12, 2026, and the return leg at the Etihad Stadium on February 2, 2026.

This is a thrilling matchup for Newcastle, who edged out Fulham 2-1 in their quarter-final, thanks to Lewis Miley’s late winner. Manchester City, on the other hand, secured their spot with a 2-0 win over Brentford via goals from Rayan Cherki and Savinho.

The other semi-final tie will see Chelsea who won League one side Cardiff city 3-1 on Tuesday December 16 courtesy of Alejandro Garnacho and Pedro Neto second half goals, host the winner of Arsenal vs Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge, with the second leg at the Emirates Stadium or Selhurst Park.
