The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and detained Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, a 20-year-old social media influencer, over alleged attempted suicide and reckless driving that resulted in a serious road crash in Lagos.
Peller was arrested after a viral video showed him driving dangerously on a public road while live-streaming the act on social media, putting his life and those of other road users at risk.
According to the police, Peller’s actions constituted a deliberate attempt to take his own life and endangered innocent members of the public.
The incident occurred on Sunday, December 14, 2025, along the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has warned social media influencers and content creators against engaging in or promoting reckless and unlawful acts, emphasizing that such behavior will not be tolerated and will attract strict legal consequences.
