A heated confrontation erupted in the Nigerian Senate between Senators Adams Oshiomhole Senator representing Edo North and Ali Ndume Senator representing Borno south during the screening of Reno Omokri’s ambassadorial nomination.
The clash occurred when Oshiomhole insisted on commenting on Omokri’s suitability, despite Ndume’s objections that proper Senate procedure wasn’t being followed.
Ndume argued that there was no petition against Omokri and that the Senate shouldn’t be swayed by “stories”. Oshiomhole shot back, saying, “When I talk, those who have not been governors should listen. You have to have that large heart for forgiveness”.
The exchange became increasingly heated, with both senators trading sharp words, until the Committee Chairman intervened to restore order. Omokri, who remained calm throughout, was eventually asked to “bow and go”, clearing a crucial legislative hurdle toward becoming a Nigerian ambassador.
