Bayelsa State’s Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has passed away after collapsing in his office. He was 60 years old and had been serving as deputy governor since 2020 under Governor Douye Diri. Ewhrudjakpo reportedly slumped around 1:30 pm and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Yenagoa, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The cause of his collapse is still unclear, but sources suggest it may be related to a cardiac emergency. Ewhrudjakpo was known for his demanding work schedule and had been a key figure in Bayelsa State’s politics, previously serving as a federal lawmaker and chairman of several committees.
