Newly elected President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Abubakar Yakubu has been arrested after being involved in a fatal car accident in Surulere, Lagos.
The accident resulted in the death of one person. Yakubu, who won the AGN presidential election by a narrow margin of 116 votes to 113 against Rita Daniels, was taken into custody at the Barracks Police Station in Surulere, where investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.
Yakubu, a seasoned Nollywood actor and administrator with over 25 years in the industry, had previously served as National Secretary, National Vice President, National Treasurer, and Public Relations Officer of AGN. He is now the first Northerner to lead the guild since its registration in 1998.
