NEWS:”7 WOMEN FATALITIES AS SOLDIERS OPEN FIRE ON PROTESTERS IN ADAMAWA”

A tragic incident unfolded in Adamawa State, Nigeria, on Monday afternoon when soldiers escorting the Brigade Commander of the 23 Brigade, Major General Amechi Agwu, opened fire on a group of women protesters at Rigange junction in Lamurde.

The attack resulted in the deaths of at least seven women, with five others critically injured and battling for their lives at Numan General Hospital.

The protest was sparked by the women’s frustration over the delayed response of security forces to a violent assault earlier that day by suspected Chobo-speaking militia, who had launched coordinated attacks on several communities in Lamurde Local Government Area.

A community leader, visibly shaken, recounted the chaos, saying the women were “angry, frustrated, and tired of burying their own” and were demanding answers, but instead, they were met with bullets .

The Nigerian Army has not issued an official statement on the incident, and attempts to reach the Army spokesperson, Lt. Col. Apollonia Anele, for comments were unsuccessful. The event has heightened tensions in the area, and calls for a thorough investigation are growing.
