Former Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano is alive and in good health, according to his former Commissioner for Information, C. Don Adinuba. Adinuba dismissed the false social media reports claiming Obiano had passed away in London on Friday, November 14, stating that Obiano is “hale and hearty” and residing in Houston, United States, with his family.
“The Nigerian media have been abuzz in the last couple of hours with a rumour that the immediate past Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has passed on in London.This rumour has no basis. Chief Obiano lives in Texas, United States, and not in London.
He is not only alive but healthy, strong, and remarkably agile for someone who has just turned 70″. Adinuba stated in a statement titled: Former Governor Willie Obiano is alive, healthy and kicking.
Obiano’s personal publicist, Tony Nezianya, also confirmed that he had received no information suggesting Obiano’s demise.
Willie Obiano served as the Executive Governor of Anambra state across two terms between 2014 and 2022, under the umbrella of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, succeeding 2023 Labour Party Presidential candidate Peter Obi.
