.Nollywood actor Baba Ijesha has been released from prison after spending over three years behind bars. He regained his freedom on Friday, November 14, 2025, following a Court of Appeal judgment that overturned his earlier conviction for sexually assaulting a minor.
The actor was initially arrested in 2021 for defiling a 14-year old girl and then sentenced to 16 years’ imprisonment by the Lagos State High Court on July 14, 2022.
In a video clip, Baba Ijesha can be seen making a phone call in a vehicle he is sitted and saying in the Yoruba language “Apase, I’m out… I just came out I want to relax. I just want to leave here so I decided to inform you. Thank you for supporting me. I will call you,”
Fellow actor Yomi Fabiyi announced his release on Instagram, stating, “You are now officially FREE AND OUT. Baba Ijesha is not just back but BETTER”.
Baba Ijesha whose real name is Olanrewaju James Omiyinka and hails from Ile-Ife in Osun State is a well known comic actor in Yoruba movies.
