NEWS: NED NWOKO SETS RECORD STRAIGHT: I MARRIED REGINA DANIELS AT 19, NOT 17; HER MOTHER BROUGHT HER TO ME

Senator Ned Nwoko has addressed the controversy surrounding the age of his wife, Regina Daniels, at the time of their marriage. In a statement released by his office, Nwoko clarified that Regina was 19 years old when they got married, contradicting online speculation that she was 17.

Nwoko emphasized that their marriage was conducted transparently, with Regina’s family present and witnesses to the ceremony. He stated, “Our customs and traditions do not frown upon polygamy. What I did was to marry her honourably, give her a name, and treat her with dignity.”

The senator expressed disappointment that his marriage has become a target for political attacks, with individuals seeking to discredit him. He described the situation as a “calculated witch-hunt” aimed at damaging his reputation and achievements as a senator.

Nwoko also addressed Regina’s past struggles, including substance use and related health challenges, stating that these issues are being twisted by those seeking to smear his image. He emphasized that Regina’s medical records are verifiable and that she has openly admitted to using drugs and being on bipolar medication.

Nwoko condemned the ongoing online stories as fabricated lies intended to destroy his public image, warning that those behind the defamation will face the law. He stated, “All the current stories being circulated are fabricated and amount to criminal defamation, and those behind this smear campaign will have their day to prove their claims.”

The senator’s statement has sparked a mix of reactions, with some supporting his decision to speak out and others calling for more transparency. The controversy has raised questions about the scrutiny faced by public figures and their families, and the impact of social media on personal reputations.
