Olamide, the renowned Nigerian rapper and YBNL boss, has paid tribute to the late Indigenous rapper, Dagrin, revealing the significant impact he had on his career. In a recent video broadcast, Olamide opened up about how Dagrin’s music has been a source of inspiration for him, particularly when he’s facing writer’s block.
According to Olamide, Dagrin’s critically acclaimed album, ‘C.E.O’, is a masterpiece that has stood the test of time. He revealed that it’s the go-to album for many rappers in the south west, who can recite the lyrics word for word. “Dagrin’s ‘C.E.O’ album is a timeless project,” Olamide said. “That album is a motivation, whenever we need motivation, we would go and listen to his album.”
Dagrin’s untimely death in an auto crash in April 2010 was a shock to the music industry, but his legacy lives on through his music. In fact, his music gained even more popularity after his passing, and he remains an influential figure in Nigerian hip-hop.
Olamide’s tribute to Dagrin is a testament to the lasting impact of the late rapper’s work. As a fellow artist, Olamide’s words carry weight, and his admiration for Dagrin’s music is a reminder of the power of art to inspire and transcend.
