The Delta State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in its fight against kidnapping, arresting three suspected kidnappers and recovering over N4 million ransom in Anambra State. The suspects, identified as Ndianefo Cypre, Onwe Sunday, and Uzoma Ifeanyi Chukwu, were apprehended in different parts of Anambra State.
The Police made this known to the public on Wednesday November 5 in Asaba the state’s capital in a statement made by Abaniwonda Olufemi, Delta state Police Commissioner who says:
“The command has arrested suspected kidnappers and recovered N4,100,000 which is the money collected from the victim.
Acting on a distress call on the kidnapping of two persons whose names were withheld, who were kidnapped at Oduke, Asaba, on October 3, 2025, the commander Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime squad was detailed to investigate.
In compliance with my directives, operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime squad acting on intelligence trailed one Ndianefo Cypre 60-year-old man, whose bank account details were used to collect the ransom, to Isieke Village at Ihiala LGA, Anambra State, Another suspect, Onwe Sunday 49, was also arrested at Ihiala in possession of N1.5 million which was part of the ransom following confessions of the two suspects, another suspect, Uzoma Ifeanyi Chukwu, was arrested at Nnewi, Anambra State and part of the ransom of N2.6 million was recovered from him. Suspects are in custody and the investigation is ongoing.”
Olufemi also said the Police in another operation rescued a female victim unharmed after a fierce gun battle with the kidnappers in Obinomba community on Saturday November 1, the Police recovered one AK-47 rifltddfftykle, and twelve rounds of live ammunitions from the kidnappers. One of the kidnappers who was fatally wounded in the gun battle was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Abaniwonda Olufemi, has now urged residents in the state to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
