Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State is confident of securing re-election in the 2026 Osun state governorship election. After being screened by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Legacy House in Abuja, Adeleke expressed his optimism, citing his administration’s excellent performance and popularity across the nation.
He emphasized that his governance records are unrivaled and that the people of Osun State love him, which he believes will guarantee his victory.
“I’m so confident I’m going to win. If I could defeat an incumbent and now that I’m the governor, within two years, it’s unprecedented what we have achieved in less than two years. I’m so confident that nobody can beat us there.
How can I be scared? I’m too popular! Anywhere I go, people love me and everybody say `Imole What are you talking about? Anywhere I go, throughout this country, even among the All Progressives Congress (APC) people, I have some friends as well as in other parties.If you are not performing, that’s when you’ll be scared. When you have your people behind you, you don’t have to fear,’’ He said.
Ademola Adeleke first contested for Osun State Governorship election in 2018 and lost to All Progressive Comgress Candidate Gboyega Oyetola, the results of the election were initially rejected a rerun was conducted and Gboyega Oyetola was proclaimed as the authentic winner on July 5 2019. Both then contested again in 2022, this time Adeleke emerged as winner and preventing Oyetola from a second term in office.
