British rapper Dave in his new album, “The Boy Who Plays The Harp,” has sparked controversy with a lyric where he compares women who lie about their age to Nigerian strikers, claiming they falsify their age.
On one of the tracks from the album titled “Chapter 16” he rapped “H*es lying about their age like Nigerian strikers”. The remarks have come with a lot of reactions on Social Media many telling him he is just generalizing. Some however claimed he is right as age cheating has been found common in the sport in Nigeria.
Nigeria has faced issues with age-cheating scandals, particularly at the youth level. The country’s U-17 men’s team was once disbanded due to widespread age discrepancies.
Dave, real name David Orobosa Michael Omoregie, has Nigerian descent with parents hailing from Edo State in Southern Nigeria. He has collaborated with prominent Nigerian artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Tems.
