Akpos is believed to be a member of the MAPHITE confraternity and the Neo-Black Movement.

They were apprehended on Sunday October 19, 2025, around 3 am, while in a gold-colored Lexus 350 SUV with Abuja registration plates. Bright Edafe reported the arrest in a statement
“At about 3:00 a.m. October 19, 2025, a patrol team of B Division Warri sighted a gold-coloured Lexus 350 SUV, with registration number KWL359DS (ABUJA), parked suspiciously with two occupants on board.

The officers promptly approached the vehicle and identified the occupants as Christian Agbajor Akpos, male, 33, and Sophia Thomas, female, 26. When interrogated, the occupants could not provide a satisfactory account of their movement at such odd hours.

Their suspicious conduct prompted a meticulous search of the vehicle, leading to the recovery of the following items: one locally made cut-to-size double-barrel gun, one battle axe, one live cartridge, and one expended cartridge. Both suspects are in custody while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate and recover more arms.”

The police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, stated that the suspects were arrested based on a directive to strengthen visibility policing in volatile areas.

Akpos allegedly confessed that the firearm was supplied by one Mr. Shimaye, said to be the Deputy Chairman of the Ubeji community.
