ENTERTAINMENT: I FEEL UNDERAPPRECIATED BY NIGERIANS – TIWA SAVAGE

Afrobeats singer Tiwa Savage, known as the “Queen of Afrobeats,” recently expressed that she feels underappreciated in her home country, Nigeria, despite her immense success and contributions to the music industry. In a conversation with Toolz and Gbemi on the Offair show, she stated, “No. I’m sorry, I don’t” when asked if she thinks she’s gotten her flowers from the industry.

Some of Tiwa Savage’s notable achievements include being the first African woman to win “Best African Artist” at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2018, and selling out concert at the Indigo O2 venue in London. She has had experimentation with genres beyond Afrobeats, as seen in her EP “Water and Garri”.

Tiwa Savage has also paved the way for women in Afrobeats and inspired younger artists with her unique style and sound. Despite these accomplishments, Tiwa Savage feels she deserves more accolades, highlighting the challenges women face in the music industry, where their contributions often go unnoticed.
