Cristiano Ronaldo has officially become the world’s first billionaire footballer, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. His net worth is estimated to be around $1.4 billion, thanks to his lucrative contract with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, worth over $400 million, and endorsement deals with top brands like Nike and Armani.
Ronaldo earned over $550 million in salary between 2002 and 2023. His decade-long Nike deal is worth nearly $18 million annually, with additional endorsements adding over $175 million to his fortune and his Al-Nassr deal will earn him around $237.52 million per year, plus bonuses, and a 15% share in the Saudi club
Ronaldo’s billionaire status places him among a rare group of athletes, including basketball legends Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and LeBron James, golfer Tiger Woods, and tennis player Roger Federer. Despite his immense wealth, Ronaldo shows no signs of slowing down, saying, “I still have a passion for this… I’m still producing good things, I’m helping my club and the national team.
Why not continue?”.
Ronaldo has also plan to follow in the footsteps of David Beckham who owns Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami FC by being a football club owner in the future after retiring from professional football. This shows his passion for the game.
